Evan Aurelian Avery was born on a beautiful spring morning, the sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, the birds was singing, and newborn Evan was screaming his lungs out, giving everyone at the manor a headache. He was a demanding child, always wanting attention, especially from his mum. A mummy's boy through and through, he would stick by her side closely when he was small, following her everywhere, even if she wasn't interacting with him, he just liked knowing she was close by and there if he needed her. Luckily, Regina was a loving mother, and didn't mind her little shadow, often carrying Evan around on her hip until he was too big for it. He was raised in a respectable pureblood household and taught all the manners and etiquette to go along with it. The Avery heir, Evan was expected to do great things and keep the family reputation. Boy, does he try. When he reached school age, he headed off to Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin, the first step of making his dad proud. He made friends with all the right sort and looked down his nose at the mudbloods and blood traitors. He did well in lessons and wrote home every week to let his parents know how well he was doing. But it didn't come naturally. It was an effort for Evan to keep himself in line, and as he got older it began to show more and more. His temper had always been fiery, tantrums being thrown at the slightest thing as a child. In school that turned to a bit of a bullying streak. He took that hot-headedness out on everyone he didn't - or wasn't supposed to - like, and soon gained a reputation as someone not to cross. His professors tried to channel his energy and tame him a bit, encouraging him to join duelling club and try out for the Slytherin quidditch team. He did, but it hardly did anything to settle his hormonal teenage fits. By his fifth year he had developed a great love of quidditch, playing as a beater for his team giving him a great outlet for his frustrations. The pressure his dad put on him was sometimes too much to bear, and doing good, and being good was near impossible. Some days he just wanted to scream in the middle of the Great Hall when he'd get a letter from home encouraging him to do better at his studies, even when he was already getting bloody brilliant grades. It seemed he was never good enough, not for the Avery heir. His best efforts always seemed to fall short, and he spent his entire school life trying to keep up with himself, all the while feeling like he would burst with rage. Bashing bludgers around the quidditch pitch was the best form of satisfaction he could find, even though he was kicked off the team in his sixth year for landing someone in the hospital wing for a month. The bugger deserved it, and Evan managed to worm his way back into the sport with good grades and a huge effort to curb his bad behaviour, being a reserve for his final year. By the time he was ready to graduate, Evan knew what he wanted to do. The Wimbourne Wasps signed him up immediately after graduation. Evan was so smug and proud of himself for getting a spot on a real team. Absolutely buzzing, he couldn't wait to tell his dad. He was going to be a celebrity and make millions. His face would be in broom shop windows and everyone would be cheering his name in huge stadiums. Well, that was his pitch, anyway. His dad didn't seem to have the same idea of what playing professional quidditch meant. What about a good, decent ministry job? Something respectable? Something stable? That's what he had done! Evan argued with his dad, trying to get his point across, but it was no good. His dad was disappointed in him, and there was nothing he could do to convince him otherwise. Evan's younger brother and sister could do no wrong, they weren't pressured into a life they didn't want, they weren't under terrible amounts of stress. It wasn't fair. But it didn't change anything. Evan was and still is determined to prove to his dad that he's making a name for himself, doing something worthwhile, and just last year he was bought out by the Montrose Magpies to be their new beater, having gotten a reputation for being a beast on a broom. His fire, talent, and sparky personality have paved the way for a blazing career. A career that will, one day, make his dad proud of him. Let's just hope his temper doesn't mess it up.
