She learned to talk early, and loved to sing nursery rhymes with her da while they picked pebbles at the seaside or went exploring castle ruins. Her da always took her on adventures, and her younger siblings too when they came along. Weekends were always filled with fun, something different every time if possible. Her da was a muggleborn, you see, so he considered putting everyone in their rundown car and driving to the beach or a funfair a great day out. Lyra loved visiting her muggle grandparents, who were shocked when she first came into her magic in their living room, sneezing, bursting into tears, and turning her hair green. It was green for weeks before anyone could figure out how to get it to turn back to normal. Her mam's family were just as wonderful, though days out with them consisted of shopping in Diagon Alley and visiting magical zoos. Lyra's favourite thing to do was going to the theatre. It started off with muggle pantomimes at Christmas, and then her mam took her to her first musical. It was the most incredible experience, and Lyra could have floated right out of her seat she was so in her element. Singing and music was something she loved more than anything, and she couldn't get enough of these shows. They couldn't always afford it, but her grandparents on both sides usually chipped in for tickets for her birthdays, which was all she ever asked for. She was able to have piano lessons when she was eight, and then got her own guitar, spending hours and hours tinkling and strumming away in her room or the living room, family sing-a-longs one of her favourite activities. Hogwarts came around quite quickly, or so it felt for Lyra. She was a little bit nervous to leave her family. She loved her life and the thought of things changing so drastically was upsetting for her, though she set a good example for her younger siblings and soldiered on. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, which she hadn't expected. Everyone had said she was a Hufflepuff through and through, but the sorting hat had other ideas. Apparently she was smart and had a keen mind and talent. It didn't really matter to Lyra, she was happy wherever, so long as she made friends and got to write home as much as possible. She did just that. A confident kid, she made friends easily and was known for being fun and unafraid to be herself. She enjoyed subjects like Astronomy and Charms, did surprisingly well at Defence Against the Dark Arts, and signed up for the frog choir as soon as humanly possible. School was somewhat of a breeze for Lyra. She enjoyed her time there, made the most of every moment, sang her heart out for the choir, and kept her nose clean, even if she did like to stand up for underdogs whenever she could. It was after graduation that she felt a bit lost. She didn't know what to do with herself. She worked in a muggle restaurant for a while, then got a job at the post office in Hogsmeade, which was where she saw the leaflets advertising a new theatre show that was in production. Auditions were the following month, and Lyra lit up for the first time in a few years. This was her thing! She auditioned and got a small role in the production, which led to more small roles, and then not so small roles. By the time she was twenty six, she was the lead in a muggle musical, her talent shining bright. She dated fellow performers, had her heart broken a few times, and broke a few hearts herself, but as long as she had music, she was alright. She made a name for herself in the theatre community, but a bad break up left her desperate for a break when she was thirty four. The guy she'd been dating for two years decided that he needed a newer model, an upgrade, and dumped her spectacularly right before they were due to go on stage. She had no idea how she got through the show in one piece, or how she got through it without murdering that piece of dragon dung, but she did, and then she quit. She went home and wallowed for a few months, and finally noticed an opening at Hogwarts for a music professor. She didn't have anything to lose, so Lyra applied for the job, thinking she had no chance. She was shocked to the core when she got the job and had to pack up her life and move to Scotland. She's been working at Hogwarts for four years now, and absolutely loves her job, bringing music and life to the castle. OOC Play By: Katy Perry Your Alias: Chase Pronouns: She/Her Triggers: Spiders |
