Belrose family. Rowle Family. Alexandria Romilly Drake was the fourth born child to the Drake household. Born with one magical and one muggle parent and plenty of older siblings made life busy and loud. She was thrown into the chaos of a big family and she thrived. She learnt to do chores, help out around the home and loved being part of a busy, loving home. She made lots of time for her siblings, even her stinky younger brother when he came along. She was loved and she loved fiercely in return, learning to be just as protective of her siblings as they were of her. Ria was a talented little witch from a young age. She came into her powers early on and one of her favourite things to do was create little orbs of pale blue light that she would throw toward the top of a tent she and her siblings would make and just read story after story or play with dolls. She was a little handful when it came to bedtimes but she’d always sleep … eventually. Usually curled up next to someone else. At 11, Ria found herself at Hogwarts, sorted into Gryffindor. The house of the brave, the house of the chivalrous, the house of the bloody morons. Perhaps, and it’s just a theory, but perhaps placing a load of teens together with lower inhibitions than the rest of the other houses (on average) was maybe just a little bit of an oversight on Godric Gryffindor’s part. Thankfully no one died, but there were certainly close calls, mostly revolving around flying. Ria became a bit of a thrill seeker and she never backed down from a dare. Obstinate to her core, Ria never let go of an idea once she had it in her head. She loved to fly, but her family could never afford a broom for her, so she used the school ones and ones of her friends. She would fly around Hogwarts, make her way up to some of the tallest towers on dares, run, jump, and free fall for as long as possible before getting on her broom. She desperately wanted to play quidditch but even when she was old enough to get a part time job at the local muggle supermarket in the school holidays, she still didn’t earn enough for the broom of her dreams and she so never played for her house team, despite her love of the sport, but she was always there, cheering them on, particularly against Slytherin. Despite having amazing adventures at school, Ria was awful at the long and tedious essays she had to do. She would make her handwriting bigger to fill the pages better, she would copy friend’s work and she used pens, much to her teachers dismay, she just could not get on with quills, her parchments forever blotted with drops and smudges of ink. Despite her natural abilities with magic, her wand work was a little sloppy and she got detentions for her poor efforts in homework. She didn’t mind, she became good at scrubbing cauldrons, learnt a lot from watching others in Potions club, and came to appreciate the fine art of making potions. She even joined the Potion club in her fifth year and learnt to make some absolute brilliant concoctions. She left Hogwarts with a few NEWTs with As and an O in potions. After Hogwarts Ria didn’t know what to do. She moved back home for a while and got a job in the muggle supermarket not far from home where she used to work her summer jobs. She was bored out of her mind with the mundane work and lack of magic and so she looked for more in the magical world. She worked at an Apothecary in Diagon Alley for a while, and got an apartment with a couple of friends to split the cost. She didn’t mind working in the Apothecary but the smell left something to be desired. While she was trying to figure out her way in life her older sister was living her best life as though everything was hunky-dory, making Ria wonder what was really hidden beneath the surface - affairs, perhaps? Gambling addiction? Alcohol or potion abuse? Who could tell, but no one was that happy in life. And her biggest brother was screwing up his life with some tramp he thought he was in love with, going so far as to have a kid with her. Then there was the other older brother, weird, awkward, and forever alone. A coward in love with a woman he’d never admit it to. All in all Ria looked at her family through new eyes, she saw the cracks, she saw these people she admired greatly when she was younger and they all seemed no more grown up than herself. She loved them all dearly and would still do anything to protect and be there for them no matter what they needed, but she kind of enjoyed their failings in life because then it put less pressure on her. She’d always thought she’d let her parents down by not doing better in Hogwarts, not getting a decent career, not starting a family, but she felt as though she was doing just as well as her older siblings - and even better than one in particular. Not mentioning names. After a few years at the Apothecary, Ria got a job tending the bar at The Leaky Cauldron. She made some wicked cocktails, learning some pretty nifty skills to go along with them. She wasn’t afraid to put in all her spare time to working and building up a little bit of savings. Despite being an adult she still dreamt of owning her own broom and she wanted the very best on the market, nothing else would do, only year after year there was always a new best with an even bigger price tag. Work hard, party harder. She loved going out with her mates, partying three nights of the weekend and at least one work night in another pub, having a laugh, meeting guys, and having fun. The Spirited Speakeasy opened on Diagon Alley, Ria got herself a job working behind the bar, her cocktail making skills put her above the rest and she enjoyed the jump in pay, too. It wasn’t much but it was certainly enough that she could put back more savings and, eventually, she brought her own broom. She worked there for a couple of years before she started trying out for professional quidditch teams. She made the reserves of one team, an absolute dream come true for Ria, but this year she’s found herself on a professional team, actually playing in every match. She’s so happy with her life right now and she cannot wait to help the Chudley Cannons make their way to the top of the league table as their Seeker. OOC Play By: Samara Weaving Your Alias: Cas!
