Well that's the sort of affect Rochelle Fernandez had on people. She was the brightest soul you ever met and she moved from her family home in the Philippines to start a new life in London, England. She loved to act and sing and had dreams of starring in the west end. People loved her light and positivity, they loved her singing and dancing, but for some reason she could never keep the lines in her mind. Acting was a lot harder than she had anticipated but she took her singing around all the pubs in London, singing with a small band for drinks and a meal, and sometimes a few quid. It wasn't the life she had envisioned for herself but she loved it. Jenkin James was another story altogether. A rough man with an attitude he'd pick bar fights and riots wherever he went. He was part of his heavy metal band that had a but of a cult following. They would tour all over Great Britain and Ireland and one night they found themselves kicking back in a quiet little dive on the outskirts of London, listening to the most fascinating woman. Shag 'em and leave 'em, that was Jenkin's style but he fell in love that night. Rochelle stole his heart and the two started a long-distance relationship, through which Jenkin was not particularly faithful. After three years of dating, most of the time being apart, Jenkin proposed to Rochelle when it looked as though she was getting ready to leave him. Did Jenkin want to be married? No, did he want Rochelle to be with someone else? Also no. He did what he had to to keep her and if that meant marrying her then so be it. Jenkin's band started taking off a little more and he was touring a lot with his band. Rochelle would travel with him around the UK but stayed home when he went around Europe and North America. While Jenkin was on tour in France Rochelle discovered she was pregnant and Jenkin didn't miss the opportunity to play it up for his fans, and a few even helped him celebrate his happy news, but not in the way you might hope. August Lexandro James was named after Rochelle's favourite month of the year. She associated it with sunshine and beaches, ice creams and summer songs. She loved everything about the month of August and would always call her son her little piece of summer in winter, he made the dark months brighter just by existing in all his purity. Lexandro came from her father - Alejandro. She'd wanted to name him directly after her father but Jenkin wanted something a little edgier, so they went with Alexandro and dropped the 'A'. Despite having a newborn son, Jenkin went back on tour with his band wen August was two days old. Rochelle felt all alone, her family on the other side of the world and her husband off doing god only knew what. She sought help from her doctor and was pointed in the direction of a mother's group. Those women saved her sanity. They knew what a rough time she was having, despite her doctor doing all that he could to help her, and they organised meals for, took turns looking after August so she could have a shower and relax. Jenkin would come back every now an then, but his visits got fewer and fewer. Deciding to move on with her life, Rochelle raised August as a single mother. She worked every job she could find and relied heavily on her friends. August had a lot of friends growing up and it was no wonder, he was raised by the most beautifully positive person in existence. He loved his mother with all his heart while his father was practically a stranger that would visit once every six months, messing his hair and calling him 'Gus' or 'Gussy'. August hated it but he knew it meant a lot to his mother that he put in an effort with his father and so he always had a smile, a hug, and a kind word to say. At the age of 11 a witch with her hair tied back in a tight bun came to visit. She spoke with Rochelle and August and explained all about the world of magic that existed beyond hidden veils. August was not surprised, all his life he had been able to create beauty, always walk through the door after playing with his friends with a flower for his mother despite never picking a single one. Hogwarts. It was going to be an adventure and if his visit to Diagon Alley with his mother was anything to go by, then he was going to have the absolute best of times. Getting on that train at platform nine and three quarters was hard. Waving good-bye to his mother as she held back tears was hard. Not knowing a single soul on the train was hard, but August made do and did as his mother told him - 'Just be your beautiful, positive, radiant self and they will love you'. Auggie settled himself into a carriage with a few other first years and listened eagerly as they talked about Hogwarts and their magical families. He enjoyed funny snacks with incredible names, and disliked the sweets he'd mistaken for jelly beans - they were not jelly beans by any stretch of the imagination. Eventually the train ride was over and the journey across the lake began. Hogwarts was more grand and majestic than he could ever have imagined. The castle was a beauty like he'd never seen before, and inside was just as grand and imposing. The sorting ceremony was long but he was sorted into Gryffindor, the talking hat telling him he could have been a Hufflepuff but his chivalrous nature, his strong moral compass, and bravery swung him into the house of the lion. Hogwarts was not precisely what August had expected. Some of his teachers were lovely while others were overly strict. The headmaster never seemed to be present and there was always a lot of homework. He was fascinated by magic but he found using a quill quite tiresome quite quickly. The Gryffindor common room was often and loud and boisterous place and so he would study in the library every chance he got. At the end of his first year there was a terrible event. The headmaster, Albus Dumbledore was killed on Hogwarts grounds, allegedly by the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, Professor Snape. Confused and not sure of what to expect, August just kept with his housemates. August's second year of Hogwarts was worse than his first. Professor Snape had taken over as Headmaster and on more than one occasion August was picked out for students to practice the cruciatus curse on. His muggleborn status lead him to be a target by other students and some Professors but there were plenty more that looked out for him, looked after him, hiding him away in the Room of Requirements. His second year was awful but he always wrote home to his mother, letting her know he was doing well, not wanting her to worry for his safety. August kept his morale high for his fellow students and himself. There was some awful, terrible battle, half the castle was destroyed, but being a second year August was ordered to stay in his common room with the other younger students. He wanted to help out, to fight, even if he couldn't do much, but there was no hope of getting out and so Auggie did all he could to inspire hope and positivity in the darkest of times. Between his second and third year of Hogwarts Aug's mum sat him down and spoke to him o his father. The man no longer wanted to visit his son and surprisingly August was okay with it. He had hated his dad's visits and honestly it was a huge relief. He hugged his mum, knowing how hard it must have been for her, and then went out and picked her some fresh flowers from the garden. Every year was hard saying goodbye to his mother but after the last school year he'd had, things were even more tense, even though he tried to hide it behind his smile. Third year of Hogwarts. Professor McGonagall was headmistress and all seemed right with the castle. It was a positive, beautiful place to be once more and Aug had the time of his life. He tried out for the quidditch team but didn't quite make the cut but he still cheered every match for his fellow lions, making banners with some of the other students and wearing his red and gold with pride. In his fourth year, 1999, he tried out for the team again and became beater. He was ecstatic but he soon found out what a rough and tumble kind of game it was. Her broke his arm, broke his nose, and fractured his skull. It was fun, exhilarating and boy did the ladies like the muscles he was getting. His dazzling smile and his strong arms were enough to make quite a lot of girls and boys weak at the knees and August started dating here, there, everywhere. He never liked to overlap relationship but his passion to his team left a few of his partners feeling like second place - which they were. He was dumped time and time again, never having ever dumped a single one of his boyfriends or girlfriends and he was never the sort to just snog around, he always loved the idea of romance and commitment. In August's sixth year he became the Gryffindor Quidditch team captain, leading his team onto many successful and daring victories. He was head hunted, asked to be a reserve for the Kenmare Kestrels, but he turned them down and followed his heart into a career in Saint Mungo's. Aug became an intern and eventually a healer at Saint Mungo's, working his way up to head of the Artefact Accidents ward. With his desire to help everyone he could it was no surprise, really. He's had many relationships over the years and quite a few of them turned serious. He would meet a person, fall in love, and then eventually propose. 8 said yes but only 5 made it down the aisle an got through the 'I do's. Despite loving love and romance and his partners, Aug always put his work first and his relationships all suffered for it one way or another. His longest marriage has been to his current wife, although it's far from functional. They married three years ago and then the marriage law kicked in right around the time they wanted to divorce. Neither wanted to be put on the market by the ministry and so they agreed to remain married but live life separated. She eventually met another man who recently proposed to her, knowing her situation of course, and she accepted. Aug is so happy for her, he loves her to pieces and wishes the world for her, but with their arrangement now in a precarious situation, he does worry about what might be coming for him no the very real possibility of a speedy divorce is right around the corner.
