Killian was born on a hot summer's day into a family of wealthy purebloods, named after his beloved grandfather Killian Avery, he had everything he ever wanted from a young age. His mother quit her job in France when she was pregnant with him and gave it all up to settle back in England on the family estate they had occupied before. It was a miracle that Killian even existed, as his parents had been told that they were medically unable to conceive a child, to their utter horror. This being the case, Killian was treated like a prince, never wanting for anything, they went to every length to ensure his happiness and doted on him to the extreme. Abraxas and Corona Vaile weren't stupid, however, they raised their son to respect the money they spent on him. They were sure to instil a strong set of values in him and taught him that he would have to earn his way in the world, fearing that he would become a rich brat and waste his life. Killian has always been grateful for this, as he sometimes finds it easy to get swept up in things, and often wonders what he would have turned out like if his parents weren't such strong, good people.

Some of his mother's family are a perfect example of what he could have been, and though he loved his uncles and cousins and saw them regularly throughout his childhood, he understood straight away that some of them were different to him. Purebloods, yes, but where Killian's parents had taught him to be accepting of others no matter their heritage, his cousins had been taught that only those like them were good enough. Killian didn't want to think like that, and he kept his views to himself whenever he was around his family. They got on on a surface level, but dig a bit deeper and you might find some trouble brewing. Still, family is family and blood is blood, and he liked having cousins in his life, even if some of them were hard work. Killian spent the most time with his dad's brother, his uncle Atticus, who was the coolest man Killian had ever known and Atticus was young, so it was easy for them to form a strong bond.

Killian made friends with a few children his mother tutored from home, and he looked forward to the day he would go to Hogwarts and be surrounded by other kids, knowing in his heart that he was designed for friendship. He busied himself with books and learning everything he could that would help him excel at school once the time came, and his acceptance letter couldn't have come quick enough to the bright boy. Hogwarts was the greatest adventure in Killian's eyes, and he couldn't wait to get there, his first day being so overwhelmingly exciting to him that he actually threw up. Sorted into Ravenclaw, he was so eager and quick to learn that lessons were particularly enjoyable for him, and he was determined to do well and please his parents and professors. He had a great group of friends and branched out into clubs, joining the frog choir and the quidditch team, and even trying his hand at chess, though he didn't have the patience for it in the long run.

He always had dreams of becoming a Professional Quidditch player once he graduated, and that's exactly what he did. Killian joined the Kenmare Kestrels after graduation, loving being in the actual real quidditch world he'd always dreamt of. He was outgoing and a crowd pleaser in matches, gaining a following with girls mostly because of the way "his hair swished in the wind" when he was flying. He didn't mind that. Killian's parents wanted him to settle down and have a family of his own, his mother desperate for grandchildren, and his dad eager to continue the Vaile name since Atticus was proving useless at settling down. Killian was much like his uncle. He didn't want to settle down. He wanted to be young and carefree. He promised his parents that one day he'd marry and have kids, it wasn't something he was completely against, but not while he was young. He had a life to life and he wanted to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. He signed with his absolute favourite team, Puddlemere United, four years ago, and he's been their Keeper ever since. He's never leaving. You'll have to drag him away kicking and screaming. And as for this marriage law, well, you might ave to drag him kicking and screaming into that, too.
