With your skin tone, you'd look incredible in bright pinks and reds." Ava had the most gorgeous porcelain skin, raven hair complimenting it beautifully. Lyra could see her in stunning rich red robes, like a vampire queen. She didn't say that part to Ava though, the woman was meek as a mouse on a good day, she'd probably run screaming at the mention of her and vampires in the same sentence. Lyra sipped her tea. "Oh! I wanted to ask you about a song I wanted to teach the kids next term. Do you think it would be too much for third years to learn how to play Hot Hinkypunk?" It was such a good song, and she thought the kids would love it, but she always liked to hear Ava's opinions. She'd saved her from making a couple of lesson mistakes before. |

♥ thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways ♥ Bright pinks and reds? Ava blushed a little at the compliment. 'Incredible'? She could not look incredible. She could look pretty, she could look beautiful, but incredible? That was far too generous of Lyra to think. Ava took a sip of her tea, too tense to even be relaxed by a lovely brew! Lyra had a question and Ava welcomed it by listening and placing her tea cup back on the saucer. "Hmm." She said. It wasn't a song that she would ever have picked for school in general, but Lyra had proven herself to be quite something when it came to picking songs. Perhaps a few had been a bit too extreme in content, but on the whole Lyra generally had great tastes. Her students all preformed beautifully. "I think it should be okay. There's nothing explicit." Ava felt as though Lyra was asking only to be her regular lovely self and to make Ava feel useful, which was sweet. Another nibble of her treat, a sip of her tea and then Ava picked up her crochet. In. Double. Out. |

IN OUR OWN LITTLE WORLD the music is the sun Ava was crocheting again, and Lyra got lost in the rhythm of it for a second. The way Ava's hands just knew what to do, following a pattern that only she knew. It was mesmerising. Lyra almost poured her drink down her neck instead of in her mouth, but caught herself at the last second, readjusting her aim and taking a slurp. "That's what I thought," she said, nodding her head. Ava didn't think Hot Hinkypunk was a troublesome song, and that was all the encouragement Lyra needed to make her mind up. "It has such a funky beat and the harmonies are amaaaaazing," she sang, voice a little too loud. "I think the kids will love it." They would. It was a song that youths would definitely appreciate. Lyra didn't like to think of herself as old, or older, but the kids she worked with every day only reminded her that she was not a youth herself anymore. It was alarming, but kept her feet on the ground. She at least tried to keep in touch with what the kids were into. Staying relevant was important for her job, she didn't want the kids to lose interest and drop out of her lessons, then she'd be sat along every Wednesday afternoon with Horatio Busby singing Caterpillar Dreams and wanting to scream her head off with boredom. |

♥ thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways ♥ Ava was crocheting away, she had no time to waste on getting the top and skirt ready for Lyra. She looked up to see Lyra fumble with her tea but looked back to her crocheting in order to give Lyra some privacy. She spoke about the Hot Hinkypunk and Ava grinned, Lyra's enthusiasm was so infectious. "The Hook have a new album out, have you thought of looking there for some new songs?" Perhaps Ava was showing her age a bit, perhaps the children would think of The Hook as a band for older people. She hoped not, she quite liked their tunes, even if some of them wouldn't have been appropriate. Mistress of Black Magics would certainly have to be a miss, but something like Augurey Dreams would be okay, although perhaps a little depressing the youths. Merlin, it was quite difficult trying to think of appropriate songs for Lyra's lessons. |

IN OUR OWN LITTLE WORLD the music is the sun Lyra adored The Hook. She'd snapped up their new album as soon as it was released, but she wasn't sure the kids would appreciate it. "I don't know. The first time I heard Augury Dreams I thought they were singing orgy dreams. That could get awkward." It wasn't the first time she'd misheard lyrics, or her students for that matter. She'd caught a few them singing really questionable lyrics to a very innocent song once. Whether it was accidental or on purpose, she would never know, but she'd scrapped the song immediately so she wouldn't get in trouble with the head. "Maybe they are singing that and augury is just for the title," she mused. Merlin knew The Hook must have had their fair share of naughty experiences on tour. Or just in their everyday lives. |

She grasped her crochet tightly and passed it over to one hand, using her free hand to reach for her tea and took a sip, trying not to think of 'Augury Dreams' as anything other than a moving song of love and loss. Ava set her tea cup back down on its saucer with a weak smile at Lyra. She decided to pop the crochet back away in her crochet bag and picked up her fudge brownie treat, taking a bite, deciding that chewing was much preferable to saying something silly again |

She was such an awkward soul, it was kind of adorable how she shied away from anything even slightly naughty. Lyra found it frustrating sometimes, not understanding how anyone could be so reserved all of the time, surely it was detrimental to a person's mental health to hold everything in and never let loose or say what was really on their mind. She often wondered whether Ava had ever been with anyone at all, never mind an orgy. "I'm putting you off your tea," she observed with a cheeky grin. Adorable. |

Lyra spoke and Ava couldn't say anything back with the food in her mouth, but she didn't want Lyra to think she was being rude so she chewed a couple more times and swallowed her brownie down before she ought to have. "I don't mind, I enjoy your company." Oh Merlin, she hoped Lyra didn't think she was being rude, boring she could handle - she was boring - but rude would be simply unacceptable. Ava grabbed her tea, struggling to think of something to say but feeling as though it would be simply awful if Lyra had to carry the conversation entirely on her own. "Have you had a chance to read the new Hunter Coven Vampire novel, 'End of Fire'?" Ava loved a good romance book, but the new tales from the Hunter Coven family collection was enthralling. Leander and Remona, fighting one another, fighting their feelings. It was so romantic - and very sexual in places - but so compelling, Ava hadn't been able to put it down. |

IN OUR OWN LITTLE WORLD the music is the sun Lyra was glad that Ava enjoyed her company. It was strange but pleasant having a friend that was so quiet and reclusive. Lyra had all different sorts of friends, but most of them could hold their own in her company, she found it refreshing being around people like Ava. Calming, in fact. The softer energy soothed her and brought her own energy down a few levels, which was probably for the best, Lyra knew she could be too much at times. She lit up at the mention of the new Hunter Coven novel. Ava had gotten her into reading the series and Lyra had been surprised that Ava liked that kind of thing. "I've read half of it, I've been falling asleep too early lately to get through more than half a chapter." She would stop being so tired once they got further into the school year and she adjusted to the work levels after a whole summer off. Lyra lowered her voice, whispering across the table conspiratorially. "Did you read the part where Leander and Ramona did that thing with the thing?" She had to talk in code, that book was too raunchy in places to discuss it out loud. Another thing that surprised her. Ava liked naughty books! |

♥ thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways ♥ Ava could sympathise with Lyra. The first few weeks back were always difficult to adjust to. The summer was such a lovely break but Ava was always glad to have a routine again, no matter how much time it took to get used to it. Ava nodded, her lips pursed and trying to hide a sneaky little grin. She didn't want to say too much because she didn't want to spoil anything that Lyra hadn't yet got to. "Did you read about them in the place with the things?" Ava did an excited little shimmy in her chair. She'd been swept away, so surprised, and she really, really hoped that by the end of the book, Leander and Ramona would figure out that they loved each other, although a second Leander and Ramona novel would be quite wonderful, too. |
