YEAH, THERE WAS A FUNKY SINGER playing in a rock 'n' roll band "So give me your kiiiiss, my dementor briiiide. There's nowhere to ruuuuun, and I don't wanna hiiiide." Raph stopped strumming his guitar and put it down, tweaking the lyrics on the piece of paper that sat next to him on the couch. He pulled a face, glancing at Lian. "I just can't figure out what comes next, everything I try sounds shite." They'd been sitting in the recording studio in Raph's basement for what felt like sixty hours, give or take sixty hours, and Raph was still struggling to think of the next line for the song they were writing. Lian had come up with such a good tune, picking it out on his guitar, and they'd been doing quite well putting lyrics to it, only writers block was wrapping her scaly little hands around Raph's brain and squeezing the life out of him. "I need a drink," he said, putting his guitar down on the couch and crossing the deep blue padded room to the small bar on the other side. He popped open a can of beer and poured it into a glass, shaking it until every last drop had dripped out, and chucking the can in the bin. He turned and leaned against the counter, lost in thought. Writing songs was an absolute bitch sometimes. He loved it when something simple just came to him, usually in the middle of the night, and he had most of a pretty decent song written in the space of ten minutes. Dementor's Kiss, as they'd temporarily titled this one, was going to be a ball ache Lian LiOutfit: Jeans and jumper. Very bland. Notes: This is a terrible song. SWANSKI

hit me, kick me, you can never get me Lyric's weren't Lian's strong suit. He could chip in every now and then but on the whole he was more into the music side of it all. He could create a loop of music, create a verse out of that and see how it could evolve. Slowly he'd bring in other instruments and the song would grow from there, but he couldn't add the lyrics, at least not 100% by himself. That was where Raph had talent. He also had the looks. And the voice. And he could also play guitar, so really, Raph was a great all rounder. Lian enjoyed the creative process, even though sometimes it felt like pulling teeth. It could be hard, strenuous, and there were always more than one meltdown involved, but it was always worth it when you had an album at the end of it all. Like a newborn baby it was precious and a labour of love. Blood, sweat, and tears went into it. Lian was sat on the sofa, cushion behind his back, one foot on the floor, one on the sofa with his guitar in hand. His fingers played across the strings, absentmindedly creating a little tune while Lian watched Raph get a drink. The fruity smell of the hops wafted over to Lian and he decided to grab himself a drink, too. He got up, rested his guitar against the arm of the sofa and made his way to the bar. "Relax, mon corsair, you've been at this for too long." Li opened the fridge and got himself a diet coke. "We can brainstorm later, for now - free your mind." He took an exaggerated breath in and released before cracking open his can.

YEAH, THERE WAS A FUNKY SINGER playing in a rock 'n' roll band Raph watched Lian take a deep breath and release it. "Free me mind?" He frowned, wondering if he was capable of doing such a thing. Raph's mind tended to move a mile a minute. He gave himself headaches sometimes, his inner monologue never shutting up or giving him a break. He'd tried to take up meditation at one point but failed. He'd been young then, maybe it was time to try it again. "Free me mind." He closed his eyes, straightened his spine, and sucked in a deep breath, holding it for a few seconds before letting it out slowly. It did nothing to free his mind. Raph tried it again. And again. "Is this supposed to be an instantaneous thing?" he murmured out of the corner of his mouth, opening his eyes and looking at Lian. "Me mind's in chains, brother. There's no hope fer me." He took his drink back to the couch and flung himself down, picking his guitar up and laying it across his lap, strumming idly. Lian Li Outfit: Jeans and jumper. Very bland. hit me, kick me, you can never get me There was no helping Raph, he was too far gone and Lian couldn't help his friend, he just needed to spiral and then Lian would be there to pick up the pieces. "It's a practice thing. The more you commit, the faster it will work in future." If he practiced that was, but Lian figured he never would. Raph was short-term, immediate solutions with no forethought to what's best for him in the long run. "Think of Ibiza, that weekend with the triplets." He encouraged, hoping more pleasurable memories would help dear Raphael loosen up a little. If that didn't work then they'd have to go out for a while, get some fresh air.

YEAH, THERE WAS A FUNKY SINGER playing in a rock 'n' roll band The only time his mind was free these days was when he was asleep. Raph had been in the rockstar game long enough to have quite a few demons. He'd seen things and done things that most would only dream of, and not all of it was something to be proud of. The triplets in Ibiza, though... A content smile made its way to Raph's face and he leaned his head back on the couch, closing his eyes as the memories washed over him. "Ohhh, that was a good weekend," he crooned, chuckling to himself. He tried to do as Lian had said and relax into it, but thinking of weekends with hot triplets was not going to relax him, quite the opposite, in fact. Raph sat up quickly, grabbing for his quill to scribble some more lyrics. "The feel of despair crawls deep insiiiiide and I neeeeeed youuuuuuu tonight." He sang the words as he wrote them. It was probably a load of bollocks but it was better than a blank page. Lian Li Outfit: Jeans and jumper. Very bland. Notes: This is a terrible song. SWANSKI

hit me, kick me, you can never get me Whatever it was Raph needed to write songs seemed to be accomplished whilst thinking of three beautiful sisters on the stunning island of Ibiza. His muse came back to him and another line of lyrics was written. Was it Raph's best work? There was no telling. You couldn't tell from lyrics alone, it all ha to be melded into one. Sometimes songs you were so confident about were not as appreciated as they should have been, while mindless drivel thrown together in half an hour because a number one hit. Lian stayed where he was, drinking his soft drink and wondering what else would help Raph with lyrics. If amazing encounters with beautiful women helped then Raph had a lot of experience he could draw on.

YEAH, THERE WAS A FUNKY SINGER playing in a rock 'n' roll band That was it. That was the full extent of his muse today. Raph sighed and put the paper down. At least it was a start, and they had the riff and the melody down which was basically the most important thing. You couldn't write lyrics with no tune to follow. He looked at Lian and sipped his drink. "What's the do with yeh today? You're quieter than usual," he said, drumming his fingers on his guitar. Raph was the chattier of the two, there was no denying that. Lian was the slightly calmer influence, but not by much. Perhaps he'd had a long night, or just wasn't feeling it today. Raph couldn't blame him. They'd had such a long break from the band and then thrashed out the fastest comeback album ever. Feeling drained was only natural. Lian Li Outfit: Jeans and jumper. Very bland. Notes: This is a terrible song. SWANSKI

hit me, kick me, you can never get me "Just keeping the space free so you can create your fine wonders, mon corsair." Lian smiled and walked to his guitar, picking it up by the neck. He put his drink down on a nearby coffee table and reached for the amp closest to him, turning it up. He struck down on his guitar, loud notes sounding out as Lian went into the music he'd been working on before. He had been acting quieter than usual but he didn't want to burden Raph with his problems and woes, it was unnecessary and wouldn't help Raph with writing a love song. Perhaps if it was something about heartache, addiction, or acid reflux he could help a little, but as it stood, Dementor Bride appeared to be turning into a longing romance song and a longing for someone romantically was never something Lian had truly experienced.

YEAH, THERE WAS A FUNKY SINGER playing in a rock 'n' roll band "Hmm If you say so, mate." Raph eyed Lian carefully as he went back to playing his guitar. He knew Lian had struggled a lot over the years. The band had done him no favours in his personal life, and it was a big deal for him to come back to that world after sorting himself out. Raph had promised to look after him, to keep him on the straight and narrow, and he had no intention of ever breaking that promise. The last thing he wanted was for Lian or any of his bandmates to tumble down a dark path now that they were back in the business, that wasn't what making music was about, not for Raph. He wanted the rush of being on stage, the pleasure that being creative brought him. And the money wouldn't go amiss, either. Lian Li Outfit: Jeans and jumper. Very bland. hit me, kick me, you can never get me Lian went from the intro he'd created into a bridge and then to the chorus, making a few changes from what he had before, slowing down a little for where he figured Raph's lyrics could go. Nothing was set in stone yet, there was still plenty of room to wiggle and play, and who knew, perhaps one of them would come up with something listening to the chorus a little slower. Or, perhaps, they needed silence for a while, appreciate the sound of nothing for a while, but if they were doing that, then Lian felt it needed something to help them to see the beyond. He hit down harder than intended, one of his strings snapped and his body tensed. He clenched his jaw, gripped his guitar tight and tried to take a deep breath. "Maybe we try something else for a bit." He said, taking his guitar to the stand and putting it down carefully.
