IF YOU'RE NOT THE ONE then why does my hand fit yours this way? Emmy adored Christmas time. It was the one time of year when people were a little bit nicer, everyone had a spring in their step, and books were suddenly incredibly popular as gifts. It was funny how certain times of year brought spikes in sales, something she hadn't thought about until she'd owned her own shop. Since her dad had bought her Tomes and Scrolls as a birthday gift many years ago, she'd learned a lot about buying habits people didn't realise they even had. Christmas always brought with it a boost in sales, but Emmy wasn't bothered about the extra money, she just loved to know that her precious books were getting some well deserved love and attention. That was what put a spring in her step as she headed for work that morning. She'd spent the morning putting Christmas decorations up around the shop, and her afternoon task was the biggest of all. Making a Christmas tree out of books for the window display. She was doing it by hand because it was far more satisfying than using magic, but now she was beginning to regret leaving her wand out of the equation. She had managed to carefully balance the books she was using into the shape of a tree, but only half way up. She'd got to the middle of the tree and there had been a wobble somewhere, and now she was stuck in the middle of a book jenga disaster. If she even moved one finger they would all tumble and she'd have to start again. There were no customers in the shop to help her, and her staff were all on their breaks, Emmy having assured them she could cope for fifteen minutes without them. She was regretting that as she balanced precariously in the shop window, books in each hand, her left foot pressing one into place, and her cheek keeping the whole pile from tumbling down around her. @open Outfit: Something festive Notes: Help! ♥ thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways ♥ Ava’s lessons for the day were done and she wanted to head into Hogsmeade to pick up some more feed for the puffskiens. She had a suspicion that one of them was pregnant because she was getting chunky and gobbling up more than her fairshare. Ava had no idea when something like that may have occurred but she had no doubts that some students had been involved somewhere along the lines, no doubt a couple of girls wanting to breed a pair to see a cute litter of baby puffskeins. After her stop at Brood and Peck with an extra delivery ordered, she decided it would be a waste of a trip not to pay Tomes and Scrolls a visit. Ava spotted the display going up in the window and paused, realising it was the owner of the store in a precarious balancing act. Ava stepped up to the window and tapped her fingers on the glass to get her attention, hoping it wouldn’t startle her into dropping everything she had held up. ”Do you want some help?” She called gently through the glass, although perhaps she had people inside that could help her.

IF YOU'RE NOT THE ONE then why does my hand fit yours this way? Em's nose started to itch, and she had no choice but to wiggle it around dramatically, her mouth going into all sorts of funny shapes as she smooshed her face up trying to soothe the itch. It didn't help, and the urge to just drop everything and start again so she could have a good scratch was strong. Yet she stubbornly held on, wondering if she could last a whole fifteen minutes until her staff came back from their break. Fifteen minutes wasn't long, was it? She could definitely manage that. She could totally manage that. Her eyes widened as she spotted a woman peering at her through the shop window. She was saying something, but Emmy couldn't hear a word. She frowned, trying to lip read and getting nowhere. "What?" She called back, making sure her mouth moved big enough that her question would be obvious. The woman could be saying anything for all Em knew. She could be asking when closing time was, or if they sold a certain type of book, or if they had a toilet. Anything! Em sighed, and then pressed her lips together. The itch in her nose had gotten stronger, and she could feel the familiar tingle of a sneeze threatening to come on. "Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no." She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to force the tingling away. SWANSKI

♥ thinking about how people fall in love in mysterious ways ♥ It became apparent pretty fast that the woman couldn’t hear Ava. She decided she’d make her way into the shop and continue the conversation there, it would be much easier, but no sooner had Ava thought that did the woman start making faces. Ava pulled her wand from her pocket, hesitating for a second to see if what she thought was going to happen was actually happening. It was. With a quick wave the glass became fluid, standing in place, rippling and shimmering in the low light of the sun. Ava climbed through the window and gave her wand a wave holding all the books in place so if the owner sneezed, they’d all stay paused precisely where they were. Ava didn’t want to grab anything in ase she made things worse, and she didn’t want to give her wand a whip and pop everything into place because perhaps the woman had a specific vision she was trying to achieve, but Ava knew it was going to be a beautiful little display once it was complete. The windows of Hogsmeade never failed to impress during the festive season.
